Reflecting on a Year of Purposeful Engineering
As 2025 draws to a close, we take a moment to reflect on a year defined by collaboration, technical rigour, and a commitment to shaping resilient, people-centred environments. Across every sector, our approach remains grounded in clarity, integrity, and technical excellence.
One of the year’s notable milestones was securing planning permission for One Welbeck’s new healthcare facility in Oxford. The transformation of a former office into a state-of-the-art day clinic will provide advanced diagnostic spaces, consultant suites, and innovative procedure theatres.
We’re delivering the structural and civil engineering strategy that will underpin this ambitious refurbishment. From roof replacement to meet enhanced loading and fire requirements to the design of a new two-storey plant room, our work is helping redefine what modern healthcare environments can achieve, placing patient wellbeing, operational efficiency, and safety at the forefront of design.
At Weston-super-Mare, our contribution to the Weston-Heath Hub marks a significant step in the town’s wider regeneration. As lead civil and structural engineers for Block A, we are shaping the delivery of a £14m health hub and multi-storey accommodation building and the first new-build within the masterplan.
Our multidisciplinary coordination, detailed analyses of stability and load paths, and comprehensive SuDS strategy exemplify our commitment to resilient, future-ready community infrastructure. As construction begins, we remain closely engaged to ensure design integrity through each phase.
Our work at Plymouth House in Bath highlights the value of adaptive reuse in creating sustainable, efficient public facilities. Supporting Avon and Somerset Police, we have delivered structural design across RIBA Stages 2–5 to help reinstate a modern, consolidated policing hub in the city centre.
Similarly, the Sandringham Hotel redevelopment in Weston-super-Mare has allowed us to apply sensitivity and technical precision in a coastal heritage context. Through coordinated structural and civil design, we are helping re-establish architectural coherence while strengthening resilience to environmental pressures.
This year also saw continued growth in our public sector and defence portfolio. Our work across operational facilities, training centres, medical buildings, and secure environments reflects a deep understanding of the sector and an ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes. Supporting Vinci Facilities across 79 barracks with day-to-day activities as well as complex projects, including Fire simulators and support ground fleet operations.
We were also pleased to see Seneca Global Energy’s energy-from-waste facility progress to planning approval, a project that aligns strongly with our ambition to support greener, more resilient energy infrastructure. We continue to develop more energy projects across the UK
This year, we have been pleased to recognise a number of internal promotions across the team. Earlier in the year, Martin Stekkinger was appointed to the role of Technical Director, while Oladapo Obansere and Connor Wordley were promoted to Project Engineer positions.
