Clegg Associates worked with Wiltshire Rural Housing Association to design a £1.2m social housing scheme. This project was on a brownfield site in Redlynch, Salisbury. The design consisted of a terrace of six, 2-3-bedroom houses. In addition, this was on a restricted site, with very minimal outside space.
As a result, the Architect, White Design Associates Ltd, proposed a variety of two and three storey plots. Each plot included balconies and projecting roofs to maximise the outdoor space available.
With regards to the structure, traditional masonry construction accompanied glulam trusses and ridge beams to support the SIPS style roof panels over the majority of the plots. The gable frames at the front of each plot designed as rigid steel portals that fixed back to the masonry.
Clegg Associates created the full structural design. This included a party wall design and minor civils work with a masonry retaining wall.
