Project Overview

Completed in 2019, St George’s Works is a town centre development delivering 30 high-quality apartments on a 1.3-acre brownfield site in Trowbridge. The scheme replaced a disused snooker club and former textiles mill, creating 24 new-build luxury apartments and converting an adjacent office building into six additional homes. Most units are two-bedroom flats, designed with open-plan living areas and private balconies overlooking the newly opened community garden and Trowbridge Park. A gated residents’ car park and new access route for park maintenance and event vehicles further enhance the site’s contribution to the town.

Clegg Contribution

Clegg provided civil and structural design services for the project, including foundations, floor slabs, masonry, roof structures and drainage. The site presented several technical challenges, particularly due to the proximity to existing buildings and complex drainage requirements within the main car park. Our team worked closely with the wider design team to coordinate solutions, delivering a structurally efficient and visually appealing scheme. The result is a thoughtfully engineered development that brings much-needed residential space to the heart of Trowbridge.
