This Holiday Inn Express is a precast building that encompasses a ground floor and four storeys above ground. The ground floor to first floor is a steel transfer structure that supports the four precast concrete floors above.
The precast floors are supported by the steel structure at first floor and by precast concrete walls in the floors above. The stability of the building is ensured by the stair/lift cores and additional vertical steel cross bracing at ground floor level, and precast floors provide diaphragm action. The facade walls support their self-weight and wind load.
The foundations of the building are driven piles 350mm diameter due to the poor ground conditions, specially where there was a pond in the past.
The RC ground floor slab is suspended from RC beams that are supported by the pile caps.
