Clegg New Year Reflections
As we step into 2025, we take a moment to reflect on a year of growth and progress for Clegg. The past year has seen us overcome challenges and seize opportunities, reinforcing our position as leaders in structural and civil design. As we face the New Year, we’re excited to build on this momentum, continuing to provide resilient, sustainable solutions backed by our extensive experience and reputation for quality and reliability.
At the heart of our success are the meaningful projects we’ve delivered. One recent project that stands out is St. Bernadette’s RFC in South Bristol, which has become a transformative hub for the local community. Not only is this project revitalising the area, but it is also creating new opportunities, especially for young people. The new facility serves as a beacon of community engagement and well-being, a testament to our belief that buildings should inspire and connect people and communities.
While we’re honoured to receive an award for this project from the Construction of Excellence, we believe the true measure of success is the satisfaction of our clients and the positive impact our work has on the communities we serve.
We also completed works on Brains farm Energy plant. Brains Farm has been a leader in renewable energy initiatives, utilising a significant portion of its land for solar energy production while promoting biodiversity through extensive tree planting—over 100,000 trees to date. The project aims to further enhance the farm’s commitment to sustainability by integrating a facility that will convert organic materials into clean energy, contributing to the UK’s green energy landscape. Clegg played a vital role in the project, overseeing site clearance, structural design, and construction coordination. Our expertise ensures compliance with building regulations while minimising waste throughout the design and construction phases. The project not only highlights the potential of renewable energy in agricultural settings but also exemplifies a holistic approach to land management, fostering both energy production and biodiversity conservation.
We’re proud of the continued progress on several key projects, with major milestones reached throughout the year, including notable developments such as One Welbeck in Oxford, UCL ION, 256 Grays Inn Road, and Camden Good Yard in London, along with Dorset and Wiltshire fire training facilities which recently received planning approval. All on track for completion in 2025. These projects reflect our commitment to delivering high-quality structural and civil services that enhance the built environment.
A significant focus of our work in 2024 has been on heritage and the redevelopment of existing structures. We’ve tackled large, complex initiatives in sensitive urban locations, as well as smaller-scale projects with unique value. An example of this is the comprehensive structural survey we conducted on the Bridehead Estate in Dorset. These projects demonstrate our dedication to preserving the past while ensuring that our designs meet the needs of the future. You can learn more about our approach to heritage and refurbishment projects here.
Phil Jenkins, who leads our environmental improvements at Clegg, has been instrumental in reducing the environmental impact of our operations. We have also been working in collaboration with the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, pushing for regenerative and sustainable practices within the industry. We are committed to continuing these efforts in 2025 and beyond, helping to ensure that our work supports not just the built environment but the natural world too.
As we enter this new year, we reaffirm our commitment to delivering structural designs that stand strong, are built to last, and provide lasting value. Each project we undertake reflects our dedication to safety and excellence – values that are the foundation of the trust our clients place in us.
The start of a new year brings fresh perspectives, and we’re eager to tackle the new challenges and opportunities that await. With several exciting initiatives and projects already in the pipeline, we look forward to sharing our journey with you in the months ahead.
