Clegg Associates were appointed to provide a design, detailing and project management for a waste food plant in Codford, Wiltshire. The Anaerobic Digestion plant will receive 45,000 Tpa of food waste to provide methane gas from two 21.5m Dia digesters. The gas will be burnt in two CHP engines to provide electricity, with the waste sludge used as fertiliser on the nearby fields.
The £20M Northacre Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) facility in Westbury built for Hills Group will increase the proportion of Wiltshire’s municipal waste diverted from landfill to more than 80 per cent, handling 60,000t of waste per year. The biological treatment process requires a building infrastructure that includes extensive reinforced concrete material reception pits, a large treatment hall, processing and storage areas and office and welfare facilities.
